Pricing & value
1. How much does a used engine cost in Europe?
Expect €1,200 to €4,500 delivered, depending on make, motorisation and reference mileage. Send us your registration or VIN and you receive a firm quote in under 2 business hours. GBP pricing is available on request for UK deliveries.
2. What is the difference between used, reconditioned and remanufactured?
Three categories exist on the market. Used: engine pulled from a donor vehicle, sold as-is or after a light clean. Reconditioned: tested, key wear parts replaced, sold with warranty. Remanufactured: stripped to bare block, machined and rebuilt to OEM tolerances. Back Auto Moteurs only sells reconditioned engines: 4 documented tests per unit and 10 months of warranty on every engine shipped.
3. Is it cheaper to replace the engine or buy another car?
A reconditioned engine plus a professional fit typically costs around a quarter of an equivalent replacement vehicle — provided bodywork, gearbox and suspension are sound. Our magazine walks through the calculation with worked examples by segment.
